I'm really excited to be a school ​counselor. I love working with ​students to help them realize ​their full potential.

My name is Benjamin Gowans and I'm excited to be your ​school counselor. Education has been my career for the ​past 24 years. I have taught in the 3rd, 4th, 7th, and 8th ​grades. I am a family man, my wife is also an educator ​and I have three children ranging in ages from 21 to 27. ​Some of my hobbies include canyoneering, road biking, ​eating ice-cream, and completing home projects.

Family Haven

Students can be referred for services by a parent, a teacher, or themselves. A student must have a signed ​consent form before ongoing services can be provided. Consent forms can be picked up from the counselor or ​at the front office.

I provide monthly classroom presentations , short term one on one counseling,

and small group counseling.

*School Counselors are not therapists. Group and individual counseling are designed to teach students skills ​that can help them cope with the problems or issues they are currently facing so they can be successful at ​school.
